RELEASE NOTES FOR CRU TS v3.23 OBSERVATIONS: September 2015

The 3.23 release of the CRU TS dataset covers the period 1901-2014. It
supercedes all earlier releases. The reference to use is:

The 'observations' directory contains the station observations used to
build this version of the CRU TS dataset; in this case the observations
were updated from the usual sources just before the dataset production
run, so their date string is '1506191332', or 13:32 on 19/6/2015. They
are referred to as 'databases', though this is a grand title for what
are effectively flat ASCII files!

Only the four main databases are presented, and they have been
'cleaned' - in that observations not used in production of the dataset
have been eliminated. This is usually due to the station having
insufficient support between 1961 and 1990 (the period used to construct
station anomalies).
